Is misting your house plant a good idea?

Misting sounds like a perfect way to keep plants healthy and happy. And, in many aspects, this could be beneficial if the environment was perfect. Just like many plant fads, misting is a big no-no. Misting can create a toxic environment that your high-humidity-loving plant would not favor. Misting alone will not devise the levels of humidity that a plant needs without the additional help of a humidifier. Ultimately misting can cause pest infestations and unsightly plant diseases. One key component here is to remember that many houseplants prefer dry leaves. Without researching the exact humidity levels and the proper care a plant might require, you may run into problems.

Now this isn't the case for greenhouses. If you're lucky enough to have one, you can easily make a suitable environment that can mimic natural environments for optimal growth. Many greenhouses are equipped with a misting system and are used in specific ways to ensure plants stay healthy. Well, Ladycasswell, what if a greenhouse isn't something I have? Well, there are ways of making a mini greenhouse at home. I've turned my bathroom into a greenhouse during the summer months when plants need a little break from the heat. I used a humidifier made for small spaces and allowed my plants some TLC. Remember, this is all trial and error. So, find out the best options for yourself and all your plant babies.
